Our beans are producing good even though we are recently having an issue with pests. The plants are loaded with pods, which are beginning to mature and dry. I picked a dried pod to see how they look. This is very much a new area for me because we never grew beans or peas growing up. Just green beans. I had to check with Mama on when they would be ready to shell.

I am happy with the variety I went with. They are Missouri Wanderers. They have been low maintenance up until a week ago when a kind of beetle I’m unfamiliar with showed up. I am trying my peppermint spray on them since it’s supposed to be unappealing to both beetles and worms. The plants’ growing season may be close enough to an end that the bugs won’t have much effect. We’ll have to just wait and see!
