There is something perfect about being awake before the rest of the world is. I love listening while everything comes alive. At first light, we have a summer tanger that comes and sings close outside our east windows. Our neighbors’ roosters all announce the coming light too, but that tanger’s song is so cheerful that I look forward to it more.

The rest of the birds and animals follow suit. Now the outside world is all awake and the garden and trees are watered. The house is beginning to stir. Before long I’ll be cooking breakfast and getting on with the day. I hope everyone else has as peaceful a Sunday morning as I have had. There is nothing like the promise and potential a new morning brings.
